Gingerbread Project
As we geared up for the holiday season we still had some serious common core learning instruction to be completed. We have been focusing on descriptive writing that appeals to our senses and emotions. I felt it was a great time to embed descriptive paragraph writing. We had just finished up selecting words and phrases that appealed to senses and emotions within our reading of poetry and other literary text- now it was time for my kiddos to apply what they had learned in their own writing. They did a fabulous job and their matching stick characters were so sweet! We had writing about gingerbread: twins, football stars, cheerleaders, fairies, policemen, babies, chefs, and the list goes on and on. This activity hit several common core standards and the kids loved the entire project. This hit project will definitely be in the plans for next December!
